Leeds United loanee’s injury throws future at the club into doubt

Leeds United could risk losing on-loan Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah in January if he does not recover soon enough from an injury sustained prior to the club’s 2-0 home victory against QPR several weeks ago.

The 20-year-old picked up an abdominal injury in training, ruling him out for the victories against Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers, and he is still yet to recover, despite having added time off during the international break.

To make matters worse for Leeds United, Football Insider has reported that Nketiah will miss this weekend’s game with Luton Town, and is also a doubt for games against Reading and Middlesbrough the following week.

This raises the question; when will he be back?

While no official date has been set for his return, Leeds United fans will be desperate to see him back sooner rather than later.

As part of the young striker’s loan deal, North London side Arsenal do have the ability to call him back if he doesn’t reach the required number of games played.

Of course, with injury that is currently out of Leeds United’s hands, but the sooner Nketiah is back fit on that pitch, the sooner Leeds fans know they will be able to keep the player for the rest of the season.

It is crucial that Nketiah stays at the club for the rest of the season. Without him, Marcelo Bielsa only really has Patrick Bamford as an option, unless the club were to delve into the transfer market in January.
