Sheffield United eye swoop for Manchester United man

Sheffield United are poised to make a move for Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia according to Terra Deportes.

The versatile winger will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of this month after 10 years and it now appears that the Premier League new boys are looking to offer him a new challenge.

The Ecuadorian international has proven versatility having also played at full back for Manchester United and he has been linked with a number of clubs including Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham.

He joined the Red Devils for £17million from Wigan and has been a fantastic servant for the club but Bramall Lane could be his next destination with the club having reportedly submitted a ‘proposal’ for the 33-year-old.

He ended his United career having won the Premier League twice as well as two Carabao Cups, an FA Cup and Europa League.

Chris Wilder’s side often played with a back three along with two marauding full backs in the Championship as the Blades boss is in favour of an attacking, creative style of play down the wing and Valencia would fit the bill perfectly.

It is also thought that David Beckham wants to make another former Manchester United number seven his marquee signing at MLS newcomers Inter Miami. With Beckham’s United connections this could also be a more than realistic destination for Valencia.

Once the upcoming Copa America ends, Valencia will announce his next move and it waits to be seen if he will be making a return to the Premier League.
