Our under-16s were crowned champions of the 2019 JSSL Singapore Professional Academy 7s last week, after they defeated Perth Glory 2-0 in the final.
Dan Micciche’s side were the only team to remain undefeated throughout the tournament, winning six of their seven outings and conceding just once.
We kicked off the tournament with a 2-0 win over JSSL and a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid, before defeating Perth Glory and Bangkok United 2-0 and 3-0 respectively on day two.
This ensured that we finished top of our group and set up a quarter-final clash with JJSL, where we ran out 2-1 winners on the third day of the tournament.
We then went on to defeat Johor Darul Ta'zim 1-0 in extra time of the semi-final, before being crowned champions courtesy of a 2-0 win over Perth Glory.
It was a physically demanding tournament played in challenging weather conditions - and our boys behaved fantastically throughout, engaging with members of the Singapore Gooners.
