Burnley target ex-Arsenal midfielder

Recently relegated Burnley are already looking towards building for next season in the Championship, and they have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury.

The Clarets boss Sean Dyche has been a long time admirer of the ex-Arsenal midfielder; a deal was close to fruition at the start of the 2014-15 season.

Burnley are prepared to offer £1.5 million as well as striker Lukas Jutkiewicz to sway the 24 year-old to join them as they hope to bounce straight back to the Premier League.

Lansbury was picked up by Arsenal back in 1999 as an eight year-old and spent 13 years with Gunners but failed to ever establish himself in the first-team.

Loan moves to Scunthorpe, West Ham, Norwich City, and Watford all provided Lansbury with vital first-team experience, although this wasn’t enough to convince Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger he was good enough to be part of his squad.

Nottingham Forest bought Lansbury in the summer transfer window of 2012 for a fee of around £1 million. Since then, the former England U21 international has made over 100 appearances for Forest, scoring 23 goals in the process.
