Aston Villa players were visibly distraught as they crashed out of the Europa Conference League against Olympiacos.
Unai Emery's side travelled to Greece having to overturn their 4-2 aggregate deficit from the first leg but two goals from Ayoub El Kaabi proved too much for them.
The Moroccan, who scored a hat-trick at Villa Park, quickly dashed Villa's hopes of a comeback when he netted unmarked after just ten minutes.
Villa dominated possession for much of the match in search of a reply to potentially inspire what would've been a monumental turnaround.
But the killer blow was dealt in the 80th minute when El Kaabi scored another close-range finish, with the goal being awarded following a VAR check for offside.
It wasn't to be for Villa and their emotion could be clear to see at the full-time whistle after their exit in a 6-2 aggregate defeat.

They looked despondent on the pitch as Olympiacos players sparked jubilant scenes with their home crowd.
Villa's stars were seen applauding the hundreds of fans that made the trip from Birmingham to the away end, applauding their support on a disappointing night.
Whilst semi-final defeat will come as a cruel blow to Villa, reaching such a stage shows the progress they're making under Emery.
They topped their group having won four for their six matches and therefore advanced straight to the round of 16.
Villa thrashed Ajax 4-0 on aggregate before beating Lille on penalties in a dramatic quarter-final clash that saw Emi Martinez save two of the spot-kicks.
Next season currently looks set to see them play in the Champions League instead as they sit fourth in the Premier League table with two games left to play.
With Tottenham seven points behind them with a game in hand, victory against Liverpool on Monday would seal a top four finish.
It would mark a significant achievement for a club who were playing in the Championship as recent as 2019, as well as a return to the top of European football for the first time since 1983.
But this season's European journey has now come to an end and winners Olympiakos will face Fiorentina in the final at the AEK Arena in Athens on May 29.
