In that fixture, Rudiger helped Germany to a 2-0 win, where fans joked that he had Mbappe 'in his pocket' on social media.

They could face each other again in the showpiece final on June 1 should Real beat Bayern Munich in their semi-final tie, and PSG emerge victorious over Borussia Dortmund.

"And if he dribbles past me I’ll smash him.”

Rudiger was then quick to defend Mbappe, who could join him at the Bernabeu this summer, following criticism the 25-year-old received after France's defeat to Germany.

He remarked: "I find this disrespectful. Kylian is special. He won the World Cup at 18 [in 2018].

"I think he can become the best player in France’s history."

Though he did stress that he wouldn't be making a mistake should Mbappe decide to make the move to link up with Carlo Ancelotti's side.

He added: "The best players in history have always come to Real Madrid.

"He’s one of the best players in the world, so it would be a good match.”

Rudiger is vying to add a second Champions League title to his trophy cabinet having won the cup with the Blues in 2021.
