Harry Kane may have missed out on the Bundesliga title in his first season at Bayern Munich, but he insists there are no regrets.

Bayer Leverkusen have romped to their first Bundesliga crown, remaining unbeaten this term under Xabi Alonso in all competitions.

Kane's quest for a first piece of silverware goes on, despite his blockbuster move from Tottenham to one of Europe's most prestigious clubs last summer.

The England captain faced the media ahead of Bayern's Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal on Wednesday and was asked about Leverkusen.

He said: "It was a disappointing season for us in the league. Congratulations to Leverkusen for what they've achieved. We haven't reached our top level this season.

"I want to help the team, whether in the Champions League or the league. It's no secret that this club is set out to win the Champions League every season.

"We have a great chance here in our Arena tomorrow in front of our home support. We want to achieve something big. Personally, I want to help the team and score goals."

When asked about comparisons between the Premier League and Bundesliga, he added: "The Bundesliga has been a great experience for me.

"Leverkusen had a fantastic season, also in Europe. There are very strong clubs here.

"I try to give my best performance in every game. Our goal now in the league is to stay in second place in the Bundesliga. All in all, I really like playing in the Bundesliga."

Kane's personal performance this season cannot be questioned, with 39 goals in 39 games in all competitions.

This includes 32 Bundesliga goals - more than his best ever season in the Premier League.

Bayern can still win the Champions League this season as they look to end the season on a high.

Whatever happens, the club will have a new manager next season with Thomas Tuchel's impending departure already announced.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly in talks over a return to the Allianz Arena.

On those Nagelsmann rumours, Kane remarked: "To be honest, I don't know him too well, I don't know the whole situation with the coach for next season.

"What I know is that Thomas is here until the end of the season. And that's all what I'm focused on.

"The club has a decision to make and I'm sure they're looking at all the candidates and trying to find the best solution.
