Chelsea currently have more players out injured than wins they have registered in all competitions in 2024.

Few clubs have experienced an injury crisis like the Blues this season, who could have ten players unavailable for Saturday's clash against Burnley.

That is more than their points tally [39] in the Premier League, with a host of star-studded names out of action.

Seven of those ten players have been signed by the club, with a combined fee worth close to £300million.

Of those currently on the sidelines, only skipper Reece James, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah come through the esteemed Cobham academy.

Here talkSPORT.com takes a look at the seven stars Chelsea have paid big bucks, who may play no role in the upcoming encounter with the Clarets at Stamford Bridge.

Wesley Fofana - £70million

A long-term absentee, the French centre-back hasn't featured for the west London outfit this campaign having picked up an injury last summer.

The 23-year-old is currently recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery, and is unlikely to be in consideration to feature until next term.

Fofana, who missed four months with a separate knee issue last season, has been limited to just 20 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Leicester in 2022.

Romeo Lavia - £53million

A big-money signing from relegated-Southampton in 2023, the Belgian has been restricted to just 32 minutes of action.

An ankle injury saw Lavia make his eagerly-awaited debut in December against Crystal Palace, but he suffered a thigh issue in his only Blues outing.

And it was recently confirmed that the 20-year-old's season is over following a setback in his rehabilitation.

Christopher Nkunku - £52million

Tipped as the man to bring Champions League football back to Stamford Bridge, the ex-RB Leipzig forward has barely made an impact.

Repeated setbacks, which started in the club's pre-season tour of America where he injured his knee, has limited him to just ten appearances in all competitions.

A hamstring injury is what is keeping Nkunku out of the team at present, with it unknown when the Les Bleus star could return.

Ben Chilwell - £50million

It remains to be seen whether the left-back will be passed fit to face Vincent Kompany's men having returned from England duty with a minor problem.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference of the defender, who started against Brazil and Belgium, Pochettino said: "He got a knock in his knee.

"Today [Thursday] he was all right to train and now we will see what happens tomorrow, if he can be available to be in the squad or not. We need to assess him."

The ex-Tottenham boss added: "It’s bad luck because he got a dead leg in the last moment of the game against Belgium.

"Now we need to struggle because we need him to play in our club."

Robert Sanchez - £25million

Chelsea have announced that Spanish shot-stopper Sanchez has suffered a fresh setback having only recovered from his knee injury.

A first team player before his period out of the ream, the ex-Brighton goalkeeper has been on the bench in the last two top-flight matches.

Pochettino could have been tempted to throw Sanchez back into the line-up against Burnley with Djordje Petrovic failing to keep a clean sheet since January.

A hamstring problem has kept him out since the Christmas Eve defeat away at Wolves.

It had been said that he would only miss six weeks, but the youngster remains out of action.
