Patrick Mahomes wants another Super Bowl ring for his dynasty case.

In an attempt to improve the Kansas City Chiefs' offense for the upcoming 2024 season, one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history is going completely outside the box to give Mahomes another dangerous weapon.

Andy Reid and the Chiefs stunned the NFL on Wednesday by agreeing to terms with former Wales rugby union star Louis Rees-Zammit, according to multiple reports.

Kansas City has won back-to-back Super Bowls and recently overcame the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in Las Vegas.

But while the Chiefs have Mahomes at quarterback and Travis Kelce at tight end, Kansas City's offense was often off target last season and lacked its normal rhythm.

The Chiefs helped Mahomes by signing speedy wide receiver Hollywood Brown, but the former Baltimore and Arizona burner was only inked to a one-year deal.

Enter Rees-Zammit, 23, who recently stunned the rugby world by leaving the Welsh national team before the start of the prestigious Six Nations tournament that features England, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy.

Rees-Zammit will join the offseason roster of a Chiefs team that is more popular than ever and became a worldwide sensation last season, thanks to Taylor Swift dating Kelce and attending the Super Bowl.

"Well this is interesting?" one fan tweeted. "Andy Reid already designing plays for his new offensive weapon!"

"Should be a fun preseason story," a second fan posted.

"I’m curious to see who his celebrity girlfriend will be," a third fan wrote.

It's still a long shot for Rees-Zammit to make the Chiefs' game-day roster and see significant time on the playing field.

Kansas City is trying to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, which means the Chiefs will have no time to waste in 2024.

But Reid and Kansas City's staff clearly saw potential in Rees-Zammit, who is expected to begin his NFL career as a running back and wide receiver.

If he makes the Week 1 roster this season or in future campaigns, he could become a dangerous weapon for one of the most creative offensive coaches in league history.

"What a day and a massive thank you to everyone at the International Player Pathway for allowing me this opportunity," Rees-Zammit posted on Instragram.

"It has been a crazy two months and something I will never forget for the rest of my life - Cannot wait to see what the future holds."

Less than a week later, he was signed by the Chiefs and the newest member of the reigning Super Bowl champions.

It's up to Rees-Zammit to prove himself in the NFL and become a worthy roster addition to a team that always seeks to raise the bar.

If he does that, Reid will surely find a way to get the best out of the fast and powerful former rugby star.

And Mahomes will have a new offensive weapon to use after already winning three Super Bowl MVPs and becoming the new face of the NFL.

“It’s always been on my mind,” Rees-Zammit said. “My dad has been a massive role model to me because he brought me up loving the sport.

"He played the sport when he was younger so it’s quite easy to love the game because I’ve been watching it from such a young age. So, it’s always been in the back of my head, but it’s just amazing to finally do it now.”

This will be the first season that all 32 NFL teams will be given a 17th roster spot on the practice squad specifically for an international player.

Teams will be allowed to elevate an international practice squad player to the active roster a maximum of three times throughout the season.

In addition, teams will receive a training camp roster exemption for a qualifying international player.

All of those extra opportunities work in Rees-Zammit's favor as he attempts to make a huge career change.
